Startup technology consulting: what it covers and what it does not

Aranv offers startup consulting services for founders, especially non-technical ones, before and during a first build. We give technology and product advice on what to build first, whether to use no-code, AI tools or custom code, who to hire and how to plan, in plain words.

This is advice on technology and product decisions, written down so you keep it. It helps most before you sign with a developer, or when a build feels wrong.

When you are ready to build, the options are MVP development for a first release, AI MVP development for one built around a model, low-code and no-code development where those tools fit, vibe coding rescue for a stalled AI-built app, a dedicated development team if you need developers more than advice, and software product development once customers are paying.

From an idea to a decision you can defend

Four questions before you spend

  1. 01 Who pays, and for what? The customer, the problem and what they would pay to fix it.
  2. 02 Can you test it cheaply? Plenty of ideas can be tried by hand, with no code.
  3. 03 What should the build be? No-code, AI tools or custom code, chosen for this idea and budget.
  4. 04 Who will do the work? A first hire, a partner or a small team, on a staged plan.

Some founders leave with a reason not to build yet. We count that as a good outcome.

What a technical advisor for startups hands you

You have an idea, a budget you cannot waste and three people giving you opposite advice. Here is what you walk away with.

  • A short first-release list: happy team collaboration in office meeting

    A short first-release list

One page on what to build first, what to leave out and why, based on who will pay.

  • A no-code or code decision: a team sharing their ideas while sitting on the table

    A no-code or code decision

A straight answer on whether this idea suits no-code, AI coding tools or custom code, with each one’s limits.

  • A vendor quote, read closely: businessman and woman sitting at table with laptop

    A vendor quote, read closely

We read the proposal, or the code you already paid for, and say what is missing, unclear or risky.

  • Your first technical hire: business woman using a gray laptop

    Your first technical hire

A role description, interview questions and a paid test task, so you can judge a developer without reading code.

Test the idea with no code: man working on laptop in office

Test the idea with no code

Some ideas should be tested before anything gets built. A landing page, a manual service run from a spreadsheet or a paid pilot can show whether people want this. We agree beforehand what result would justify a build.

What we do

  • The riskiest assumption, named
  • Test plan using no code
  • Pass or fail result agreed first
  • No-code tool shortlist

AI tools in a first build

AI coding tools can produce a working demo quickly, which can teach you a lot. They can also hide missing security, weak data design and code nobody understands. We show you when a developer must step in.

What we do

  • Which AI tools fit your idea
  • Review of an AI-built prototype
  • Security and data checks
  • Handover plan to a developer

What this does not cover. We do not raise money, introduce investors, value your company or give legal or tax advice. Use a lawyer and an accountant for those. Nobody can promise your startup will succeed, and we will not.

One page of notes is enough for a 30-minute conversation. Use our contact page to set it up.

How we work

  • Test before you build
  • Plain words, written down
  • Technology and product decisions only

How a founder engagement runs

  • Step 1: Start with your idea and customer

Start with your idea and customer

You explain the idea and who it serves. We ask what would prove it wrong.

  • Step 2: Name the riskiest assumption

    Name the riskiest assumption

We pick the belief that would sink the idea, then ask whether testing it needs code.

  • Step 3: Write the plan and estimate

    Write the plan and estimate

You get a staged plan with rough effort, a recommended stack and who should do the work.

  • Step 4: Stay close or step back

    Stay close or step back

Take the plan to any team, or keep us on to review work during the build.

Why founders talk to Aranv

We say when to wait

If a spreadsheet and a few phone calls can answer your question, you will hear that from us before you spend on software.

Our interest stated openly

We also build software, which gives us an interest in the answer. We name it, and each plan shows options that do not involve us.

Second opinions without a sale

Asking us to review another vendor’s work does not commit you to us. You get the findings and decide what to do with them.

Yours to keep, in writing

Every decision goes in a short document with the reasoning beside it, so a future hire can see why you chose it.

Startup Consulting Services FAQs

  • What is the best tech stack for startups?

The one your first developers know well and you can hire for later. Mainstream choices usually beat fashionable ones. We recommend after seeing your product and budget, and write down why.

  • I am not technical. Can I still work with you?

Yes, non-technical founders are who we write for. We explain each choice in plain words, so you can question a developer’s estimate without reading code.

  • Should I use no-code, AI tools or custom code for my first version?

It depends on what you need to learn. No-code suits testing demand, AI tools suit quick demos, and custom code suits unusual logic, sensitive data or heavy use.

  • Can you help us raise money or meet investors?

No. We do not raise funds, make introductions or value companies. We can give you a clear account of your technology, plus a plan and estimate to use in those talks.

  • Do we have to build with you afterward?

No. The plan is yours, written so any competent team can use it. We also build software, and we will say so whenever our advice points to our own services.
