Custom Software Development Services

One process, rebuilt in software

Aranv brand pattern

What custom software development services include

Aranv is a custom software development company that designs, builds and supports bespoke software for American small and midsize firms: internal tools, customer portals, system integrations and AI features shaped around the way your team does its work.

Packaged software suits common tasks. Bespoke software makes sense when your process is what sets you apart, when per-user license fees keep climbing, or when three tools need to act as one. Sometimes configuring a product you already pay for is the better answer, and we will say so.

A typical engagement covers discovery, UX design, front end and back end development, database design, integrations, testing, deployment and support. Several of these have their own page: web application development for portals and dashboards, SaaS product development when you plan to sell the software to other businesses, and MVP development when you need a first version in front of users quickly.

From a manual process to working software

One process, rebuilt in software

  1. 01 Map the current process We follow one job from request to invoice and note every handoff.
  2. 02 Agree the first release The smallest useful version is written down, with screens, data and integrations listed.
  3. 03 Build and demo often Your team reviews working features at each sprint review, not only at the end.
  4. 04 Run, measure, extend After launch we watch usage and errors, then plan the next set of features.

The stack is chosen to suit your systems, your hosting and the people who will maintain it.

Bespoke software we build for small businesses

Most projects begin with a process that has outgrown shared spreadsheets, long email threads or a packaged tool.

Operations tools

Job scheduling, stock counts, approvals and field reports in one web app that staff open on any device.

Customer portals

Clients check orders, download documents and raise requests without phoning or emailing your office.

System integrations

Your CRM, accounting package, ERP and online store exchange records automatically instead of being re-keyed by hand.

AI-assisted features

Document reading, smarter search or a drafting assistant added inside the software your team already uses.

Internal tools and operations software

Scheduling boards, approval queues, stock counts and field reports that run in the browser and on phones. We model the tool on how your staff hand work to each other today, then remove the copy-and-paste steps between them.

What we do

  • Role-based dashboards
  • Approval and sign-off flows
  • Offline-ready field forms
  • Exports for finance
  • Audit history on every record

Customer portals and integrations

A portal where clients place orders, upload documents and see status without calling your office, connected to the CRM, accounting package and ERP behind it so nobody re-keys the same record twice.

What we do

  • Client sign-in and permissions
  • Document upload and e-signature
  • CRM and ERP sync
  • Payment and invoice history
  • Notifications by email and SMS

How we approach a project

Business software is only as useful as its connections. Our API development and integration work links CRMs, ERPs, payment gateways and shipping carriers. If you run an older system that still does its job but is hard to change or host, legacy modernization moves it to a supported stack in stages rather than in one risky switch-over.

Security is part of the build from the first sprint: role-based access, encrypted connections, dependency updates and peer code review. The NIST Secure Software Development Framework is a good list of practices to ask any vendor about, and our security and IP page explains what the contract and NDA cover.

After launch we can stay on for fixes, platform updates and new features through maintenance and support, or hand the code and documentation to your in-house developers. Every project starts with a 30-minute conversation about the process you want to change, booked through our contact page.

How we work

  • Built around your real workflow
  • Small releases, frequent feedback
  • Documented code your team can maintain

Our Process

  • Step 1: Discovery workshop

    Discovery workshop

We interview the people who do the work, review the tools they use today and agree what the first release must do.

  • Step 2: Prototype the key screens

    Prototype the key screens

Clickable screens for the main tasks let staff try the flow and point out gaps before any code is written.

  • Step 3: Build in short sprints

    Build in short sprints

Features arrive in small increments with automated tests, and each sprint ends with a demo for your decision maker.

  • Step 4: Launch, train, improve

    Launch, train, improve

We release in stages, train the people who use it daily and keep a ranked backlog for the next release.

Why Aranv

Process first, features second

We start by following one real job through your business. The software is shaped around that path, so the first release removes actual work instead of adding screens.

One team from design to support

Designers, developers and testers stay on the project after launch, so the people fixing an issue are the people who built the feature.

Code and data you own

The contract sets out ownership before work starts, and we document the system so your own developers or another partner can take it over.

Small releases you can see

Each sprint ends with working software your decision maker can try, so priorities change early, when changes are cheap.

Custom software FAQs

  • How much does custom software development cost for a small business?

It depends on scope: the number of user roles and screens, the systems it must connect to, how much data needs migrating and how strict the security requirements are. After discovery we give a written estimate split into phases, so you can fund the first release and decide on the rest later.

  • How long does a custom software build usually take?

A focused first release often takes a few months; larger platforms arrive in phases over a longer period. Scope, integrations and the speed of decisions on your side set the pace. We agree a release plan during discovery and show working software at every sprint review.

  • Should we buy off-the-shelf software or build our own?

Buy when a product already fits most of your process and its license cost stays reasonable as you grow. Build when the process is what makes you different, when your tools need to act as one, or when workarounds cost staff time every week. A mix is common, such as keeping your accounting package and building around it.

  • Who owns the software when the project is finished?

Ownership is written into the contract before work starts. We recommend an agreement under which the source code, designs and documentation pass to you once the work is paid for, so you can host, change or hand over the software freely.

  • What should we prepare before a project starts?

One person who can make decisions about the process, access to the staff who do the work, sample documents and reports, and logins or API documentation for the systems we connect to. Regular time from that decision maker during the build keeps the project moving.
