What fitness and wellness software projects cover
Aranv provides fitness app development for US gyms, boutique studios, personal trainers and wellness brands: branded member apps for booking and check-in, links to the club management software you already pay for, wearable data features, and AI that drafts programs and answers member questions under a coach’s review.
Most gyms already rely on a club management platform for members, billing and the timetable. A branded app usually sits on top of it, so we first check what its API lets an outside app read and change. Our mobile app development team then builds for iOS and Android, often with Flutter so one codebase serves both stores.
Studios selling on-demand video also need streaming and subscription billing. Store policies for digital subscriptions differ from those for in-person classes, so we check current App Store and Google Play rules first. Class packs usually run through a payment gateway integration.
How a member joins, books and trains in one app
From sign-up to progress check
- 01 Member joins in the app Sign-up, waiver and first payment land straight in your club system.
- 02 Book and check in Members reserve classes, join waitlists and scan a code at the door.
- 03 Train and log Workouts are entered by hand or pulled from a watch with permission.
- 04 Coach reviews progress Trainers see attendance and results, then adjust the plan from AI drafts.
Billing, timetables and member records stay in your club management system.
Gym software development and wellness apps
Many studios juggle a vendor app, a booking widget, a payments tool and group chats. These builds turn that into one experience under your brand.
Member booking app
Class timetables, waitlists, QR check-in and membership freezes in one app that reads live from your club management system.
Coach and trainer tools
Trainers build programs, log sessions and message clients from a phone, with session packs and renewals counted automatically.
Wearable and health data
Steps, heart rate and workouts brought in from Apple Health or Health Connect once the member agrees, shown beside their program.
AI coaching assistant
Drafts next week’s plan from a member’s goals and workouts, answers class and billing questions, and passes anything about pain or injury to staff.
Connecting the app to your gym systems
An app is only as good as the records behind it. We link it to your club platform, payment processor, door access hardware and CRM, so a booking, a payment and a check-in all update one member profile.
What we do
- Club management API connections
- Membership billing and failed-payment alerts
- Door access and QR check-in
- Lead capture into your CRM
- Attendance reports by class and coach
Health data handled with care
Fitness apps collect details people would not post publicly. We limit collection to what each feature needs, explain it in plain words when asking, keep it away from advertising tools and let members export or delete it.
What we do
- Consent screens in plain language
- Health data kept out of ad tools
- Export and delete on request
- Staff access limited by role
- Breach response steps agreed early
How we approach a project
Wellness apps hold data people treat as private: weight, sleep, heart rate, injuries. The FTC’s Health Breach Notification Rule covers vendors of personal health records, which can include fitness apps, and Apple and Google limit how health data from their platforms is used. We plan consent and deletion with your counsel.
AI helps most around the workout. An AI chatbot answers timetable and membership questions at any hour, a drafting tool prepares program updates for a coach to approve, and a churn prediction model flags members whose visits are tailing off so staff can call them.
Every fitness or wellness app we take on starts with a 30-minute conversation booked via our contact page, where we look at your members, your current booking or club software and the first release you need.
How we work
- Build on the gym software you have
- Collect only the health data needed
- Coaches approve what AI drafts
Our Process
-
Walk the member journey
We join, book, freeze and cancel like a member, noting each step that still needs the front desk.
-
Test the club system’s API
A sandbox or staff account shows which bookings, payments and profile fields the app can read and write.
-
Pilot at one location
One club uses the app first, so staff can report check-in and billing problems before other sites switch.
-
Release to both stores
We prepare listings and privacy labels, answer reviewers, then watch booking errors and crash reports.
Why gyms work with Aranv
We start from your gym software
The app is planned around what your club platform can share, so bookings and billing live in one place and nobody keeps a second member list.
Minimal health data
We collect only the data types the features use, keep them out of marketing tools and agree retention and deletion rules with you before release.
Coaches stay in charge
AI drafts plans and replies, but a trainer approves program changes, and questions about pain, injury or medication always reach a person.
Code and data stay yours
The contract sets out code and design ownership before work starts, member data stays in your systems, and we document the app for future developers.

Fitness app development FAQs
-
What drives the cost of a fitness app?
The member features, video streaming, how deeply the app connects to your gym software, which wearables it reads and how much the staff dashboard does. Discovery ends with an estimate split into stages, so members get a first release while later features wait.
-
Can a custom app work with Mindbody or our current gym software?
Often, yes. Several club management platforms, Mindbody among them, publish developer APIs, though each vendor sets its own access terms and fees. Discovery confirms what your platform exposes, and exports or webhooks can fill gaps.
-
Should we build our own app or use our gym software’s white-label app?
Use the white-label app if booking and payments are all you need. Build your own when you sell programs or video, run several brands, want features the vendor lacks or need one view across locations. Some clubs start white-label and build later.
-
Does a wellness app have to follow HIPAA?
Usually not, unless it handles protected health information for a covered entity such as a clinic. Consumer wellness apps can still fall under FTC rules and state privacy laws, so we confirm what applies with your counsel before building.
-
Can the app read data from Apple Watch, Garmin or Fitbit?
Apple Health and Android’s Health Connect let an app read workouts, steps and heart rate once the member grants permission. Garmin and Fitbit run their own developer programs with approval steps. We request only the data types your features use.
