AI KYC Verification and Customer Onboarding

How a KYC or KYB case moves

Aranv brand pattern

What AI KYC verification covers

Aranv builds AI KYC verification and onboarding workflows for US fintechs, lenders, credit unions and payment companies. Applicants upload IDs and business documents, the system reads and cross-checks them, collects beneficial owner details, calls your screening providers and hands each case to a compliance analyst for the decision.

Your onboarding rules come from your compliance program, and the program comes from law. Under FinCEN’s Customer Due Diligence Rule, covered institutions identify and verify customers and the beneficial owners of legal entity customers. Fintechs working through a sponsor bank follow that bank’s program. We build software to your written procedures; we do not write them.

AI has three jobs here: turning documents into fields, comparing those fields across the application and its documents, and summarizing provider results for the analyst. Identity verification, document authenticity, sanctions and PEP screening come from vendors you select, connected by our API integration team.

One onboarding case, from application to decision

How a KYC or KYB case moves

  1. 01 Collect the application Applicants enter details and upload IDs, formation documents and proof of address.
  2. 02 Read and cross-check Names, dates, addresses and registration numbers are compared across every document.
  3. 03 Run screening checks Your identity, sanctions and adverse media providers are called and results gathered.
  4. 04 The analyst decides A case summary with mismatches and hits goes to compliance to approve, decline or query.

Identity verification and sanctions screening run through specialist vendors you choose; AI reads documents and prepares the case.

Customer onboarding automation for regulated teams

Onboarding stalls on paperwork and back-and-forth. These are the steps the system covers before an analyst opens the case.

ID document reading

Driver’s licenses and passports are read, checked for expiry and compared with what the applicant typed, while liveness and authenticity checks stay with your ID vendor.

Articles of organization, EIN confirmation letters and operating agreements are read to confirm legal name, formation state, officers and ownership for business accounts.

Each owner holding 25 percent or more, plus one control person, is collected through a guided form, and each person goes through identity and sanctions checks.

Possible sanctions or adverse media matches are summarized with the details that support or rule out each one, so analysts clear false positives with evidence on screen.

Business onboarding is slower than personal because documents vary by state and entity type. The system reads formation documents, good standing certificates and EIN letters, builds the ownership picture from what the applicant provides and lists any owner or officer still missing before an analyst sees the case.

What we do

  • Entity name and state match
  • Officers and owners extracted
  • Ownership percentages totaled
  • Missing owners requested automatically
  • Registry lookups via your vendor

Case files examiners can follow

Every case keeps the documents received, extracted values, vendor responses, analyst notes and the final decision with a timestamp. When an examiner or sponsor bank asks why an account was opened, the answer sits in one place with the version of the rules applied at that time.

What we do

  • Full document and data history
  • Vendor responses stored
  • Analyst decision and reason
  • Rule version per case
  • Export for exams and audits

How we approach a project

The applicant side matters as much as the checks. A clear upload flow inside your app or a customer portal cuts incomplete submissions, and automatic requests for a missing page or a sharper photo replace long email threads. Cases land in your case management tool or a review screen we build.

Lenders, payment companies and banks and credit unions use the same patterns; see also AI for fintech. The build follows our AI workflow automation approach, with each step logged for examiners and auditors.

How we work

  • Every mismatch shown with evidence
  • Your chosen vendors, not replaced
  • Analysts approve, the system prepares

Our Process

  • Step 1: Read your procedures

    Read your procedures

We review your CIP, CDD and KYB procedures, risk ratings and the vendors already under contract.

  • Step 2: Map the case flow

    Map the case flow

With compliance we define each check, its data source, pass and fail rules and what triggers manual review.

  • Step 3: Test on past cases

    Test on past cases

Document reading and cross-checks run on anonymized past applications and are compared with analyst outcomes.

  • Step 4: Launch with full review

    Launch with full review

At launch every case still gets a full analyst review; that level only changes when compliance agrees.

Why Aranv for KYC automation

Your program, written as rules

We turn your written CIP, CDD and KYB procedures into explicit steps and thresholds, and your compliance officer reviews them before go-live.

Specialist vendors stay in place

We connect the identity, sanctions and business data providers you already trust rather than rebuild them, and the flow is designed so a provider can be swapped later.

Analysts see the evidence

Each mismatch or screening hit appears next to the document text or vendor record behind it, so the analyst decides with the facts in view.

Careful with sensitive data

ID images and personal data are encrypted, access is limited by role, retention follows your policy and model settings keep applicant data out of training.

AI KYC FAQs

  • Can AI make KYC decisions on its own?

We do not build it to. AI reads documents, compares data and summarizes screening results, but approving, declining or escalating a customer stays with a compliance analyst under your program. Some low-risk steps can run automatically once compliance has tested and approved the rules.

  • What is KYB automation?

Know your business automation applies onboarding checks to companies: confirming legal name, registration, formation state, officers and beneficial owners, then screening each person. AI reads the formation and ownership documents so analysts stop retyping them.

  • Does this replace our identity verification provider?

No. Document authenticity, liveness and database checks are specialist work best left to dedicated vendors. We connect your provider and use AI for the work around it: reading supporting documents, comparing data and preparing the case for review.

  • How is applicants’ personal data protected?

ID images and personal details are encrypted in transit and at rest, stored in your cloud account, visible only to the roles that need them and kept for the period your retention policy sets. Model providers are configured not to retain the data where that setting exists.

  • We are a fintech with a sponsor bank. Can you work to their requirements?

Yes. Sponsor banks usually set the onboarding rules, vendor list and record keeping. We build to the bank’s program and your own policies, and keep the documentation the bank’s oversight reviews ask for.
